Noboribetsu Onsen Hot Water Festival

This festival expresses gratitude for the abundance and variety of hot spring water during the bitterly cold winter, and also includes prayers for prosperity and good health so that the hot spring water will never run out. On the 4th, young men in loincloths compete fiercely to pour hot water over each other in the Gensen Yukake Gassen and Dosojin Hadaka Nerikomi, both of which are very heroic and create a whirlwind of excitement throughout the festival.
